Tampa Bay Watch is recruiting 10-20 hard-working volunteers to help build oyster domes at our Marine Center, 3000 Pinellas Bayway South in Tierra Verde on 11/6 and 11/8. The minimum age to participate in this project is 16 years old. The project involves pouring marine friendly concrete into a fiberglass mold containing a large round buoy surrounded by smaller rubber balls, creating the holes in the oyster domes. Microsilica is mixed with the concrete to balance the pH so oysters are attracted to the domes. This project is physically demanding in requiring bending, crouching, and some heavy lifting. It’s a dirty job, but it’ll make a difference for Tampa Bay! Go to tampabaywatch.org/volunteer to register to help.
